Providing modelling support to Severn Trent teams working on the flooding, growth, CSO, pump transfer and integrated catchments for the capital maintenance programme within the capital delivery and commercial – infrastructure teams. Team members have been partly co-located within the Severn Trent Raynesway offices and also undertaking work out of their own office with regular liaison with the Severn Trent staff.
RES staff have worked on many projects including:
Pump Transfer Programme on 20+ catchments
Newtown Strategic Planning Scheme involving the strategic planning for the catchment over the next 20years
Scunthorpe Strategic Growth Study looking at the impact of a 8,000 property development on both the network, STW and the water quality impacts and how Severn Trent would deliver the project of the coming AMP periods.
Flooding Projects
Castle Street, Melbourne, a partnership scheme with the local authority. This is a complex flooding issue from both the combined and storm systems with additional impact upon the local watercourse. RES have been involved in all aspects of the project including planning, managing and reviewing survey data, updating and verification of the hydraulic model and building the business case. liaising with the local authority and discussing the partnership arrangements.
Hartshorne Road, Woodville, surface water flooding issue impacting upon 12 properties and local highways. RES have been involved in all aspects of the project including planning, managing and reviewing survey data, updating and verification of the hydraulic model and building the business case.
Osbourne Road Kiveton a partnership ship scheme with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, involving surface water from the highway impacting upon severe flooding of a number of properties. RES have been involved in all aspects of the project including planning, managing and reviewing survey data, updating and verification of the hydraulic model and building the business case, liaising with the local authority and discussing the partnership arrangements.
As part of the Capital Maintenance programme RES have been involved in providing modelling support to solution engineers on many pumping station projects where operational deficiencies have been identified. The work has primarily involved assessing existing model suitability, updating models to future scenarios, determining emergency storage requirements and developing options to remove deficiencies such as EO operation and associated flooding. RES have also been involved in the initial stages of the STW Pumping Station protocol, which will define a methodology for assessing and prioritising pump station deficiencies.
