In conjunction with ARC which is a consortium between Atkins and RPS, RES are undertaking a wide range of project work on behalf of Scottish Water during the Quality and Standards IV (2015 to 2021) investment period.

A variety of work is being undertaken including large Integrated catchment models as part of the ICS programme, Drainage Area Studies with a multitude of drivers, Section 16, studies, Aesthetic Studies, flooding investigations including assessment and optioneering and Drainage Impact Assessments in conjunction with new developments.

Typical studies include:

Perth ICS – Large integrated 1D/2D model constructed in ICM covering the entire drainage operational area. Representation of full sewer network, all main river and urban watercourses to address fluvial, pluvial and network interactions relating to Scottish Water, Perth and Kinross Council and SEPA flooding drivers. All stakeholders are working collaboratively to produce to produce outputs in accordance with the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009.

Largs DAS – Model Build and Verification of catchment model serving the coastal resort of Largs to address both flooding and UID aesthetic drivers. Study included Section 16 assessments, Scottish Water Needs and subsequent optioneering to address aesthetic deficiencies including the re-design of 8 new CSO chambers to the latest guidelines.

Oban DAS – Model Build and Verification of catchment model serving Oban to address the catchments quality in respect to SEPA’s bathing water standards, internal flooding and growth. In addition, the study paved the way for additional assessments into dual manholes and high levels of infiltration. One challenging aspect in Oban was the inclusion of numerous real time controls which had a significant impact on network operation across the seasons.
